Want a real, full-depth brick feature in your house? You likely already know that the expense for this permanent masonry feature far exceeds that of tile. Cost savings aren’t the only reason why people go for thin brick tile, though.

 

It’s lightweight and easier to install.

If you don’t want to demolish a wall, go for the brick tile. It can be set right on top of drywall. No footing, no extra fuss, just a feature that feels warm and classic.

 

The right brick never goes out of style.

Textured tile accent walls and backsplashes are the best way to add dimension and interest to a room. However, you may be concerned about how long something like a fluted texture will realistically be in style. Many brick looks are ageless.

 

It’s more versatile than initially thought.

Exposed brick is common in industrial and Old World-inspired designs. But thin brick tile in the right color and configuration fits cottage, farmhouse, and even minimalist designs. Unlike a lot of other tiles, many types of brick veneer can be painted to further customize the look.

  • The seating side of an island. Line under-counter leg room with something durable and grounding. It’s good for designs where you don’t want the island to look like more cabinetry.

  • Cooking alcoves. Especially arched ones. Nothing says “heart of the home” like a brick range frame. It’s certainly stylish, but it doesn’t look purely decorative. Pair it with a statement hood, and your kitchen’s focal point is complete.

  • Full-height backsplashes. If you’re using any open shelving or skipping full upper cabinets, have your designer add this option to your virtual design presentation. Carry it over onto the side walls a few inches to wrap corners.
