Bold Blue & White Bathroom Remodel

This transformation began with a generously sized primary bathroom with a lackluster layout. The shower, vanities, and other fixtures were pushed into separate corners of the room, leaving large areas of open space that weren't useful. The homeowners came to The Designery Greensboro primarily looking to move the bathroom out of its late-1990s aesthetic, and the project quickly became an opportunity to improve both the look and function of the space. 

The new design embraces a bold palette of navy blue and white, giving the room a fresh personality. A navy-blue double vanity anchors the space, while a freestanding tub replaces the dated garden-style tub and creates a much cleaner visual profile. Rather than simply updating finishes, the design team took a closer look at how the room could work better as a whole. Moving the shower against the wall created room for the double vanity and allowed the previously unused wall space to become part of the design. 

The shower ultimately became the centerpiece of the renovation. The new layout creates a much larger shower that feels open and airy, with a glass enclosure and a half-height tiled wall adding definition without closing off the room. Details like the shower glass trim, lighting, and surrounding finishes were carefully coordinated so that each element feels connected to the next. The result is a space that feels bright and coastal while still having enough contrast and character to keep the design interesting. 

For the design team, the shower was a favorite part of the transformation because it demonstrates just how much the right layout can change a room. What started as a bathroom with plenty of space but very little usable flow is now a cohesive, functional retreat where every area has a purpose. The blue-and-white palette brings the personality the homeowners wanted, while the updated layout gives the room a sense of ease that wasn't there before. It is a great example of how a renovation doesn't always require adding square footage—sometimes it simply takes a better way to use what is already there.
